Challenge Course

Wellness and Recreation offers a variety of team and leadership development programs to student organizations, university departments, community organizations and corporate groups at the Jim Wall Challenge Course.

Climbing Center

The Climbing Center consists of two types of indoor climbing: roped climbing and bouldering. Bouldering is available for drop-in use any time the Wellness and Recreation Center is open, while roped climbing has set hours where staff are on-site.

Club Sports

Club Sports are student-led organizations formed with a common interest in a sports activity. Clubs may be recreational, competitive or a combination of both, emphasizing student leadership, service and engagement that enhance your college experience.

Court of North Carolina

The Court of North Carolina is one of the largest green spaces at NC State. It’s a place for leisurely picnics, outdoor lessons and the occasional snowball fight on a wintry day. Unwind on Main Campus near the steps of the 1911 building.

Fitness Classes

Group fitness classes are included with a Wellness and Recreation Center membership at no extra cost. With 85+ group fitness classes each week, offerings include strength, dance, cycle, HIIT, yoga and more.

Fitness Training Programs

Experience the power of exercising in an inclusive, community-based environment with progressive programming and intentional coaching. Led by nationally-certified trainers, group training strives to enhance a participant’s overall fitness while focusing on different aspects of skill development.

Free Expression Tunnel

Express your creativity at the Free Expression Tunnel — a heavily trafficked underpass that connects the university’s north and central campuses. Designated a graffiti-friendly zone in the late 1960s, students can tag the tunnel’s walls as they see fit.

Group Counseling

Counseling in a small group setting can help you feel less alone. It connects you with other students who are going through similar struggles, creating an environment of social support and encouragement.

Howl and Chill

These free monthly events are designed to create community and connection, and to develop your creativity and self-care. Discover the network of resources available on campus to support your health and well-being.

Intramural Sports

Wellness and Recreation’s intramural sports program offers a variety of individual and team activities to the NC State community. More than 7,000 participants compete in over 40 different league sports and special events annually.

The Oval

While on Centennial Campus, head to a grassy open area surrounded by four engineering buildings and the Hunt Library to relax and unwind. Enjoy the outdoor plaza and check out the nearby art installation.

Wellness and Recreation Membership

Student, faculty, staff, alumni, affiliate, retiree, temporary employee, visiting scholar and household memberships are available for purchase at the Wellness and Recreation Center. Memberships provide access to Wellness and Recreation indoor facilities, outdoor spaces, programs and services.

Wellness and Recreation Outdoor Adventures
