Climbing Center 

The Climbing Center consists of two types of indoor climbing: roped climbing and bouldering. Bouldering is available for drop-in use any time the Wellness and Recreation Center is open, while roped climbing has set hours where staff are on-site.

Club Sports 

Club Sports are student-led organizations formed with a common interest in a sports activity. Clubs may be recreational, competitive or a combination of both, emphasizing student leadership, service and engagement that enhance your college experience.

Court of North Carolina 

The Court of North Carolina is one of the largest green spaces at NC State. It’s a place for leisurely picnics, outdoor lessons and the occasional snowball fight on a wintry day. Unwind on Main Campus near the steps of the 1911 building.

Fitness Classes 

Group fitness classes are included with a Wellness and Recreation Center membership at no extra cost. With 85+ group fitness classes each week, offerings include strength, dance, cycle, HIIT, yoga and more.

Fitness Training Programs 

Experience the power of exercising in an inclusive, community-based environment with progressive programming and intentional coaching. Led by nationally-certified trainers, group training strives to enhance a participant’s overall fitness while focusing on different aspects of skill development.

Free Expression Tunnel 

Express your creativity at the Free Expression Tunnel — a heavily trafficked underpass that connects the university’s north and central campuses. Designated a graffiti-friendly zone in the late 1960s, students can tag the tunnel’s walls as they see fit.

Gregg Museum of Art and Design 

Visit the Gregg Museum and experience its wide range of programs, lectures, artist residencies, film screenings and other immersive art experiences. During your visit, explore the museum gardens designed and planted by NC State Horticultural Science students.

Howl and Chill 

These free monthly events are designed to create community and connection, and to develop your creativity and self-care. Discover the network of resources available on campus to support your health and well-being.

Intramural Sports 

Wellness and Recreation’s intramural sports program offers a variety of individual and team activities to the NC State community. More than 7,000 participants compete in over 40 different league sports and special events annually.

Lake Raleigh Woods 

Lake Raleigh’s recreation area sits in the heart of NC State’s Centennial Campus and offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor exploration, including hiking, biking, picnics, disc golf, fishing, non-motorized boating and watersports.

Mary Yarbrough Court 

Mary Yarbrough Court is a quiet, shady escape named after the first woman to complete a graduate program at NC State. You can find the court, and its gardens, behind Holladay Hall on North Campus, within view of the Memorial Belltower.

Wellness and Recreation Membership 

Student, faculty, staff, alumni, affiliate, retiree, temporary employee, visiting scholar and household memberships are available for purchase at the Wellness and Recreation Center. Memberships provide access to Wellness and Recreation indoor facilities, outdoor spaces, programs and services.

Wellness and Recreation Outdoor Adventures 

WellRec maintains the university’s challenge course, climbing center and hosts a variety of trips throughout the year. The center and gym also rents out equipment to the campus community. Be sure to bring your Wolfpack One card or Wellness and Recreation member ID to check out any outdoor equipment.
