Unwinding Anxiety

Unwinding Anxiety is an award-winning, evidence-based program that provides guided video and audio lessons to help people reduce their anxiety. NC State employees and students can get a 30% discount on an Unwinding Anxiety one-year, six-month or one-month membership.

These free monthly events are designed to create community and connection, and to develop your creativity and self-care. Discover the network of resources available on campus to support your health and well-being.

Outdoor Adventure Trips

Explore the great outdoors on a day or weekend trip with Wellness and Recreation. The outdoor adventure program leads a variety of trips each semester, including hiking, camping, biking and water activities, at local, state and regional locations.

Personal Training

Wellness and Recreation's nationally-certified personal trainers take a science-based approach to developing safe and effective programs tailored to your individual needs, goals and interests.

Wellness and Recreation Membership

Student, faculty, staff, alumni, affiliate, retiree, temporary employee, visiting scholar and household memberships are available for purchase at the Wellness and Recreation Center. Memberships provide access to Wellness and Recreation indoor facilities, outdoor spaces, programs and services.

Wellness Challenges

These free activities are designed to educate participants on healthy lifestyle practices and support their application into our daily routine. Work to improve your holistic well-being with challenges focused on movement, hydration, nutrition, mindfulness and sleep.

Wellness Coaching

Wellness and Recreation's nationally-certified wellness coaches offer several options to NC State students to improve their well-being in individual and group settings. Each coaching opportunity is designed to meet you where you are in your well-being journey and facilitate your personal growth and development along the way.

Wellness Education Sessions

Level up your wellness knowledge with an interactive and informational session designed for classrooms, departmental meetings and student organizations. Led by Wellness and Recreation, topics include: creating a culture of wellness, resiliency, movement, mindfulness, stress management, time management, self-care and sleep.

Wellness Living-Learning Village

The Wellness Village is open to all NC State students committed to living a balanced lifestyle. The village encourages developing and maintaining personal overall wellness through coursework, small programs, mentorships and high-impact events.

Climbing Center

The Climbing Center consists of two types of indoor climbing: roped climbing and bouldering. Bouldering is available for drop-in use any time the Wellness and Recreation Center is open, while roped climbing has set hours where staff are on-site.

Fitness Classes

Group fitness classes are included with a Wellness and Recreation Center membership at no extra cost. With 85+ group fitness classes each week, offerings include strength, dance, cycle, HIIT, yoga and more.

Fitness Training Programs

Experience the power of exercising in an inclusive, community-based environment with progressive programming and intentional coaching. Led by nationally-certified trainers, group training strives to enhance a participant’s overall fitness while focusing on different aspects of skill development.

Opioid Training

This workshop will draw attention to opioid trends, signs and symptoms of overdose, and appropriate intervention. Each participant can take home a Naloxone (Narcan) kit.

Fitness Assessment Services

Know where you are today to get where you want to be tomorrow. Fitness assessments are designed to help you learn more about your body to develop a personalized plan for meeting your health and fitness goals.

Counseling Center Workshops

Workshops designed for small groups to meet for three sessions to build coping skills for a range of concerns — from dealing with anxiety to improving relationships and more. The facilitators respect each participant’s right to share only what they are comfortable sharing

Question, Persuade, Refer Training

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Training is a bystander-intervention programming focused on identifying warning signs for students in crisis, strategies for support and resources for referrals.

Challenge Course

Wellness and Recreation offers a variety of team and leadership development programs to student organizations, university departments, community organizations and corporate groups at the Jim Wall Challenge Course.

Ahead of the Pack

Ahead of the Pack assists new graduate students in adapting to NC State and various elements of graduate student success.

What’s on the Table

What's on the Table is the African American Cultural Center's weekly space for Black folx across campus to come together to unpack important conversations essential to our communities. From navigating PWIs, to the weaponization of black hair, this space is known to provide dialogue that stimulates the minds of attendees and offers a space for Black folx to be free and exist.

Mindfulness in the Museum

As part of our Mindfulness in the Museum initiative, the Gregg Museum of Art + Design offers regular free Yoga and tai chi classes throughout the academic year.

HES: Take 8 at NC State

The Department of Health and Exercises Studies offers more than 70 different activity courses ranging from required 100-level fitness courses to Canoeing or Self Defense. Students that complete four activity classes can visit HES to receive a free water bottle, or complete eight activity classes to receive a free t-shirt.
