Case Management and Off-Campus Referrals

This service connects students with specialized and/or longer-term mental health services not currently provided by the Counseling Center. Case managers meet with students to discuss and make appropriate referrals, goals, insurance, transportation, and other relevant elements.

Counseling Center Workshops

Workshops designed for small groups to meet for three sessions to build coping skills for a range of concerns — from dealing with anxiety to improving relationships and more. The facilitators respect each participant’s right to share only what they are comfortable sharing

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy at the NC State Counseling Center is an option for treatment if both students are enrolled in academic instruction.

Faculty and Staff Assistance Program

The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP) offers no-cost counseling services for eligible employees and their household members to address stress, relationship, personal and family issues (three free sessions per issue). Counseling services available by phone, in-person or virtually.

Individual Counseling

Short-term therapy at the Counseling Center is goal-oriented, solution-focused and time-limited. You and your clinician will work together to determine a plan to address the primary goal.

On-Call Services

The Counseling Center provides 24/7 crisis support to any student in need, and our clinicians work to ensure all students are supported, assessed and provided resources. After hours and on weekends and holidays, our crisis services are shifted to ProtoCall, a contracted service that provides telephonic counseling by licensed clinicians to any student in need.

Psychiatric Services

The Counseling Center offers psychiatric evaluation and other psychiatric services. Students are eligible for two psychiatric appointments before any additional fees are assessed. If you think you need medication management, you must see a counselor at the Counseling Center first.

Teletherapy Platform

Every NC State degree-seeking student can access free counseling sessions virtually. Students have expanded access to clinicians with evening and weekend availability.
