Ahead of the Pack 

Ahead of the Pack assists new graduate students in adapting to NC State and various elements of graduate student success.

Behavior Assessment Team 

The Behavior Assessment Team (BAT) is committed to improving the NC State community through a proactive, multidisciplinary and coordinated approach to the prevention, identification, assessment, intervention and management of the safety and well-being of our campus community. All employees and students are encouraged to report/share concerns.

Behavioral Health Resource Center 

North Carolina State Health Plan members can access the Behavioral Health Resource Center to find providers who can assist with anxiety, depression and other issues.

Faculty and Staff Assistance Program 

The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP) offers no-cost counseling services for eligible employees and their household members to address stress, relationship, personal and family issues (three free sessions per issue). Counseling services available by phone, in-person or virtually.

Faculty and Staff Ombuds Office 

The faculty ombuds office is independent, impartial, informal and confidential and helps to strengthen relationships across the university, engages with people to help inform critical decisions, monitors trends and promotes fair process.

Grief in Common 

Find support and connection from others who understand the loss you may be experiencing.

Group Counseling 

Counseling in a small group setting can help you feel less alone. It connects you with other students who are going through similar struggles, creating an environment of social support and encouragement.

Headway 

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina offers Headway, a mental health provider search platform. While all are welcome to use the platform, State Health Plan members enrolled in the Enhanced PPO Plan (80/20) or Base PPO Plan (70/30) will find Clear Pricing Project providers which do not require a copay.

HopeLine 

HopeLine is a nationally accredited crisis intervention and suicide prevention agency whose mission is to support people’s mental health through active listening and caring confidential conversations.

National Domestic Violence Hotline 

The Hotline provides support to help survivors of domestic violence so they can live their lives free of abuse, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The Hotline maintains free, confidential and compassionate highly-trained expert advocates ready to share crisis intervention information, education, and referral services in over 200 languages.

Raleigh ACORNS 

The City of Raleigh’s ACORNS (Addressing Crises through Outreach, Referrals, Networking and Service) program was established as a proactive team that works with residents in crisis and directs them to available resources. The ACORNS team combines social workers and law enforcement officers who are tasked to help by using the most appropriate and least invasive interventions possible.

Survivor Support Services

Teletherapy Platform 

Every NC State degree-seeking student can access free counseling sessions virtually. Students have expanded access to clinicians with evening and weekend availability.

Therapeutic Alternatives Mobile Crisis 

Mobile Crisis response provides an immediate evaluation, triage and access to acute MH/DD/SA services, treatment and supports. These services include immediate telephonic response to assess the crisis and determine the risk, mental status, medical stability and appropriate response.

Unwinding Anxiety 

Unwinding Anxiety is an award-winning, evidence-based program that provides guided video and audio lessons to help people reduce their anxiety. NC State employees and students can get a 30% discount on an Unwinding Anxiety one-year, six-month or one-month membership.

WakeMed Grief Support Groups
